Looking for Knaack's (Knack's) located in the Chicago area. My great-grandfather, Johan Knack, arrived in this country in 1883. He later used the name John Adam Knaack. Most of his descendants are still living in that area. Perhaps we could share some information?

Sorry, Bill -- my John Adam/Johan Knaack was married in Germany to a Louise Johanzen (CA. 1861) and after her death to a Karolina Martens (Martins?) (CA.1877). Johan and Karolina came to this country in 1883. I have never been able to document the marriage to Louise - this info came from a relative.

Bill - my Johan (John Adam) Knaack was already married for the second time when he arrived in the U.S. His first wife was Louise Johanzen (this info from a cousin of my father's and not documented). His second wife was Karolina Martens. Guess we are not looking for the same Johan!

Sorry, I don't have any more info for you. Back in September, when I posted that message, I was looking for a Dorothy LOHMANE marriage in Will County.

I thought maybe LOHMANN was a variant of LOHMANE, but I later found the LOHMANE marriage I was looking for.

Have you checked IRAD? That URL is http://www.ilsos.net/departments/archives/irad/iradholdings.... and they have a lot of info on Will County, including marriage licenses from 1836 and naturalization records from 1862.

Hi, Has your Lohmann ever been Luhman or do you think it has always been with a 'o'. There are a lot of Lohman's listed on "kamm" s sites. If You checkon Martin county, minn. You can find his searching. He has Lohman. Also if you check up on "drewes" you will find Lohman mentioned there also. I do think I remember reading of Knack and Lohmann connection. Maybe your not interested in looking for that. Or have already. I have spotted them cause I look for Luhmann. I found your site, cause I heard aTorsten Knaack was interested in Luhmann like I am. and so was checking on it all. and couldn't resist putting in my two cents.
happpy hunting
By the way lots of Knacks in southern minn near that martin county. I can't fgive much for names. etc.

lol, yes. Possibly the ones that lived near Lyle Meyer and maybe related to the ones who rented my parents farm for awhile.
I have another quetion, could the wrights be related to any of these people.
Meiner or Meisner [ spelling may be off] , wright, samson, flyn [ this could be wrong, Fenske, [ that one may be wrong too] Schomberer or Schoenberger [ white streak in hair hereditery] Hammer, people in worthington, people in town that had triplets who were always in Lewisville dairyland parade -- would that be north east. Hennis, possibly Erickson or Ellingson. Not sure abut Becker.
A relative that I am looking for in Martin county told me He was related to them, and so I am looking for his branch. fingers crossed.....
