I'm a daughter of Walter Knaack, Jr (Neenah, WI)
and just beginning a search of this family history.
Don't know much but perhaps we can make a connection.

I am related from the Witt side of the family.

My grandma was Alvena Katherina Sophia Knock which was changed when they came to Iowa. The relatives came from Rock Island, IL and moved to Williamsburg IA. The oldest relative I have on that side of my family is Henry Frederick Knaack bornMar 1812 at Holstein Germany.

The name Alvina rang a bell. My Witts and Knaack's are from Chicago. On the church Christening paper the name of Alvina was listed as a sponsor. I have the names of Fred Witt and Elmer Witt. One of them was in the pickle business in Chicago. My great grandfather was Henry Witt married to William Jarchow. Is there any connection?

Did Henry have brothers John or Joachim. I am looking for info on Edward Theodore Knaack's family. I believe his father was John. Edward was born between 1858-1861 in Prussia, came to US in the 1860's. I think John was born abt 1814. Any info??

My great grandpa was John Knaack and his dad was Johann Joachim Knaack. Johann is buried in Green Garden two, IL. John is buried in St. James, Mn. They came to America around 1863 from Prussia. I haven't been able to find much more information. Chicago fire doesn't help! I think there may be a connection!!! :)

My John Knaack had a son, Edward Theodore. Do you have Edward in your tree? Some of their relatives also lived in Iowa. Sound familiar?? Thank you for your help.
