Veronica,

I just decided to check the message board while searching for info on my grandfathers family. My grandfather was John M. Kmieciak born in Poland (Prussia) June 1888. I cannot seem to find much info on his family other than his father was Josef and his mother, Marianna Walczak. I have his baptismal certificate and it show Miloslaw (although I cannot seem to locate that town. Nice to know there are other Kmieciaks
Please feel free to e-mail.

Hi Kathy,
Yes, there are other Kmieciaks out there, but there are just a few of us. Here's my info: While searching the Ellis Island records (www.ellisislandrecords.org) today I came across a Michal Kmieciak who entered the US in 1910. He listed my grandfather Wojciech (aka Adalbert or Albert) Kmieciak as his uncle. His age at the time of his arrival was 22 so he would have been born in 1888. Could John M. Kmieciak be Michal Kmieciak? Also, there is a John Kmieciak (b.14Jun1888) listed in the Social Security Death Index. Is this your relative? You mentioned the town of Miloslaw. It is near Bugaj, the birthplace of my grandfather, Albert Kmieciak (b.4Mar.1867-d.14Nov.1950, Father:Josef, Mother:Agnes). Other towns nearby are Winna Gora and Murzynowo Koscielne. Miloslaw is in the diocese of Poznan and is south of Wrzesnia which is south of Gniezno. It is in the Woj. (wojewodztwach) Wielkopolska. As you can see our relatives were from the same area of Poland. My grandfather settled in Fayette County - Pennsylvania. Hope this can help you and that we are related. Please feel free to email me if you wish

Sharyn,
We could be related. My great grandmother had the same parents and was from the same area. I believe Albert is my great grandmother also Agnes's brother. I just had some one in poland go to the archives and do some research. There was another brother Stanley ( Stanislaus)
I believe my great grandmother was named after her mother. I just spoke to Stanley's youngest daughter who is 88 and lives outside Chicago. Stanley left to fight in Haller's army and returned with his wife and 2 children from camp grupa in 1922.
Still trying to figure this out
Best,
Carol
