Alice Helen Kmecik, age 80,
of East Springfield,
passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 .
at St. Vincent Health Center.
She was born in Cranesville,
on May 12, 1930,
the daughter of the late John and Anna Svec Klobusnik. Alice was a graduate of Albion High School, Class of 1947. She worked on the family potato farm with her husband and sons. She loved to cook and bake and collected strawberry and hummingbird knick-knacks. She attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, in Albion, and belonged to its Ladies' Aid group. In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by a son, Stephen Kmecik III, and a daughter, Linda Sue Kmecik; three sisters, Sue Voytik, Millie Andrews and Martha Hill and four brothers, John, Steve, Albert and Andy Klobusnik. She is survived by her husband Stephen G. Kmecik, whom she married on April 15, 1950; two daughters, Carol A. Struchen & husband Raymond, of Fairview, and Susanne R. Kuhn and husband Stephen, of Lake City; three sons, Ronald G. Kmecik and wife Debra, of Lake City, Thomas J. Kmecik, of East Springfield, and Daniel R. Kmecik and wife Brenda, of East Springfield; one sister, Mary Lazor, of Lakewood, Ohio; eleven grandchildren: Renee Isham, Russell Struchen, Jennifer and Stephen Kuhn, David, Joyanna, Jannelle and Mark Kmecik, Jessica Cashbolm, Cody Kmecik and Marybeth Kmecik; three great-grandchildren: Austin and Alyssa Isham, Grace Noble; as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 80 Third Avenue in Albion with Rev. Fred Poeppel officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 80 Third Ave., Albion, PA 16401.
