One of my Detroit relatives was Raymond Kline [b. Michigan Sept. 1899]. He married Stella Dutkiewicz about 1917 in Detroit.
Raymond's original name, I believe, was "Ramon Klechefski." I am intrigued by the possibility that the original name was Kleczewski [and would have been pronounced like Klechefski]. Does this possibility make sense to anyone...?

Do any of these names ring a bell... John "Jack", Sylvester, and Henry. They all shortened their names after coming to America. Please help if you are able.
