CLINGMAN/KLINGMAN DNA PROJECT

Classification: Query
Surnames: Clingman, Klingman, Clingerman,Klingaman, et.al.
We still are working on the Clingman/Klingman/Clingerman/Clingaman, etc. Y-DNA project. There were several Clingman/Klingman families in Pennsylvania before 1750. Some of the lines remained in Pennsylvania for many generations; some migrated to Ohio in the early 1800s; others migrated to North Carolina in the mid 1700s. We do not know if all of these lines have common ancestors. Wouldn’t it be fun to find out? We need some willing participants who are DIRECT MALE DESCENDENTS from any of the Clingman/Klingman (any spelling) lines. PLEASE HELP!

My husband had his Y-DNA test done through Ancestry.com. He is a direct descendent of Alexander Clingman who was born bet.1730-1738 and died 1803 in Rowan County, NC. It is believed he was born in Germany, first immigrated to PA and then migrated to NC where he was in the records by 1754.

If anyone has his paternal line traced back to any Clingman/Klingman (any spelling) branch living in Pennsylvania or North Carolina in the early or middle 1700s, please consider participating. Even if you do not have your line established that far back, participating might help you learn who your earlier ancestors were.
