Recently I found that in 1542 was born Fredrich Clever ,his son had name changed to Clober (Martin ).Martins kids change name to Klaiber around 1580's .Since then many variations of this name exist...
next...trace leads to Austria .I found Kliber Johannes who married Anna Springt in 1768/08/25 in town Kosmonosy(sound polish) .
Other treads go to Poland ,Kalisz :
Samuel Kleiber 1809
Augusta Kleiber 1835
and finally Joseph and Jean Kliber late XIX c.which are related to mine line of Kliber familly .
to Hungary city Majos 1810/05/6 Elizabeth Kliber
Some of the Klibers moved to Canada ,USA,Denmark,France...
some still livung in Czech Rep.,Poland,Germany.
The biggest concentration of Kliber familly members I found in Kalisz (aprox. 100 of them still living there).
If you found more of the puzzles pleease contact me

The word ''kliber'' means ''the nose'' in the local dialect used in Wielkopolska (the western part of the Polish were cities Poznan and Kalisz are situated). The orgin of this word is in some German dialects (prob. from Bamberg).
I was always sure that name ''Kliber'' comes from this word - one of my ancestors must have very huge nose.

The Kliber/Kleiber/etc is german. You as a South American probably have German ancestry as many many germans settled there.

My birth name is Lisa Dawn Kliber. I am in Buffalo NY USA. I have been researching as much as I can about the Kliber lineage and I am stuck.
My family has always been recognized by the big nose that looks the same on every person whether male or female. It makes sense to me now that I read your post that it would be the definition of Kliber.
Can you please share any information you have with me for the Kliber family? I went to the site you suggested and I have been waiting for 3 weeks for acceptance as a member to the site.
I will be happy to share what I have here even though it is very little.
Thank you for your help.
