I am interested in learning more about my husband's family the KLEBE. His grandfather, born in Russia in 1865 of German descent, immigrated to N.Dakota about
l900. Am interested in knowing more about the family before then.

I have a listing of Edward whose wifes maiden name was Otillia Henke married Sept. 23, 1871
and lived in Bottineau, N.D. He had a son, Arthur (killed in war) and son Alvin wife Marian of St. Paul, Minn. They have two sons Kevin and Brian. There are many more Klebe's in Willow City, N.D. and Bottineau, N.D. that emigrated here from Russia in the early 1900's. My grandfather was Heinrich Wilhelm Klebe and he came from Russia and settled in Woodbine Kansas. My grandmother was a Biebedorf and moved to N.D.to be with her family in 1900 when my grandfather died.

Hi, Richard - I am delighted to hear from you. There are not too many Klebes around.
You are beyond a doubt a relative of my husband's. He is a son of Frederick William Klebe, born 1896 in Russia, son of Edward Klebe, born 1865 in Russia and coming to the US about 1900. They settled in North Dakota many of the "clan" are still there. Now all we have to do is figure your connection to my husband.
Can you send me your lines back a few generations? Maybe we can figure this out together.
My husband's father, Frederick, left No. Dakota in the 1930s, went to college in Seward, Nebraska then moved to central Illinois to teach. That is where he met Ed's mother married her. He never lost contact with N.D. people Ed still keeps in touch with his cousins there.
I am anxious to learn more of you your family. If you like you can contact me at sekl@cityscape.net.

Sallie-According to the info I have your father-in-laws name was Fredrick Klebe born May 5,1891 and he married Margaret Peyer in Decatur, Ill. It also lists Edward as born May 7, 1935 and married to you (Sally) at Springfield, Ill. I think my great grandfathers name was Carl Friedrick born 1815 and married to Elizabeth Bose who died in 1918. It appears my grandfather was born 1862 and died in 1900 shortly after my father was born in Woodbine, Kansas. My grandmother (Adolphine Biberdorf) then traveled back to Willow City to be with her kinfolk as she had 5 children to support. She later remarried Tobias Mann and had 5 more children. My father ran away from home at age 16 and eventually migrated to Nebraska with a harvest crew. He married my mother (Aagot Gaarder) at age 28 and they settled in Uehling, Ne and never went back to North Dakota until several years later. I am the youngest of six children of this marriage. I was born 2-5-38 and just retired last February. My wife, Joyce just retired in May after a 44 year banking career. She was a Vice President and Cashier at Fremont National Bank in Fremont, Ne. Do you have any of the Biberdorf Family Reunion materials or any of the 100th anniversary booklet prepared by Marg Schaffer of Cando, N.D.? If not, I can send you some interesting material about our heritage. I'm looking forward to a Family reunion again on the Biberdorf side in 2002. Best Regards, Dick

P.S. Do you have a son named Robert? My oldest brother is named Robert and another brother is named Dennis. My sisters were Mardell, Marcedes, and Beverly. All are still living except Beverly died of cancer 6 or 7 years ago.

Hi! I have an Ernst Klebe in my family who married Minnie Kopp Seltzer (?) They were foster parents to my great grandfather Joe Dembeck and lived in the area of Steinbach, MB before returning to the US. Ernst was the son of Johann Karl Klebe and Emilie Schultz. Any connection?

My great-grandfather was Karl Klebe and Heinrich was my grandfather-a brother of Johan Karl Klebe. I cannot find an Ernst Klebe but I located an Ernest Klebe who was sometimes known as "the wandering Klebe".

Hi, again, Richard - I was glad to get the information you sent, but there are a few things that were not correct.
The Edward Klebe that you mentioned in the first email was born in 1865 not 1871 lived in Willow City, ND not Bottineau. The Arthur you mention was son of Theodore Klebe Clara Pick, they did live Minnesota had two boys. (We visited one of them one time)
If your grand father was Heinrich Wilhelm, son of Carl Friedrick, who was your father?
I have listed 10 children for Frederick Klebe it looks as if your gr-grandfather could have been brother to my Edward, both perhaps son of Frederick. Frederick was married to Anna Biberdorf.
Let me see if I have this right --
Carl Freidrick/Anna Bose
Heinrich Wilhelm/ Adolphine Biberdorf
Your father/Mother
Richard Klebe

My husband's line is as follows--
Frederick/ Anna Biberdorf
Edward/ Ottilie Henke
Frederick/ Margaret Peyer
Edward/ Sallie Oak

Yes, we have three children, John, Kristy Robert is our youngest. We now have 5 grandchildren.

Could Adolphine have been sister to Anna or perhaps, neice? I would love to get the info on the Biberdorf as I really have nothing but Anna's name.
It looks like we have uncovered some other Klebes out there. I hope we can tie them in too. Carl Edward had a brother Ernest, but German spelling could have been Ernst.
Let me know what you need to complete your records on our part of the Klebe family.

Yes! I think that's the same guy (Ernest/Ernst)
I've heard him referred to as the Wandering Klebe!
I'm struggling with my Dembeck line - because Joe
came over with his aunt (the one who married Ernst/Ernest)
I don't know where in Volhynia he was from.
I'm hoping for some clues through the Klebes.
I wonder if the Klebes knew the Kopps and Dembecks
in the old country, as Minnie and Ernest were neighbours
in Manitoba and married shortly after her husband's
death in 1901.
