KLAES is a variant spelling I have often come across while looking for my Klas/Recktenwald/Cramer/Bauer ancestors who came to Buffalo in the 1830s. Sound familiar to anyone?

Yes, I have a little info:

From the United German & French RC Cemetery:

Hier ruht in Frieden/ Magdalena,/ Ehefau von/ Anton Klaus,/ Geb.den 12, April 1830/ gest.den 14, Sept. 1882/ Alt 52 Jahre 5 Mo.

Margaretha, b. 7 Aug. 1844, (St. Mary's); Buffalo d. 9 Apr. 1879, Buffalo m. Klaes.

Margaretha and Magdelena were sisters, maiden name Schall.

Hope that helps. Good luck, Brian.
