I am looking for the ancestors of Jan Klaczek and his wife, Anastasia "Nancy" Sobkow. Jan was born in 1874 in Slobidka, Chortkiw, Tarnopal, Poland. Anastasia was born in 1882 and I believe died in St. Michael Alberta, Canada. They had a daughter, Ann Kliachik who married Joseph Huculak. Ann was my grandmother. I am not sure if she was born in Canada or Poland. If anyone has any information, I would be so grateful to hear from you.
Thanks

Hi Danny L. Let me help you a little bit. I am looking right now at the back cover of a family heirloom. It is a mantel clock with my grandpa's signature written most likely in an anglisized way since pretty well all eastern europeans desperately tried and still do desperately try to fit into the "english world". The signature is John Kliachik. If you want to know more please contact uncle Adolph and Mary Huculak in Kinuso. They have the number for Ann Clark(e) the daughter in law of this couple. YES CLARK(e)!! Our uncle Rudy changed his name to become anglisized.Talk to your dad, Alfred will know all this stuff but auntie Ann has the direct goods. There must be a Kliaczik/ Kliaczek/Kliachik family history book in their midst. Auntie Ann love to talk about these things. Grandpa Kliczek came to Canada via Hawaii... Love always Uncle Teddy

It's been several years since this was posted, so I'm hoping you still get this. I saw that your family traveled via Hawaii to Canada and I'm wondering if we could have a family connection. My great-grandfather was Jacob Klask (Yacoub Klaczek) who left Galicia, Poland and stopped in Hawaii, where he stayed and lived out the rest of his life.

Could your family have been relatives on the same ship? The ship was the "Glade" and left from Bremerhaven, Germany before arriving in Honolulu in 1898. There is another Klaczek listed on the ship manifest under my great grandfather's name & it looks like "Yan Klaczek". He was a male aged 24, although I'm not sure about the accuracy of ages since my great-grandfather is listed as being 20 and that doesn't match up with the birth year information that we have. (but age info on several of the census data don't match up in his earlier years eaither.) I'd love to know if there's a connection, as we have a dead end here in tracing the family.

I have been working with Mary on this Hawaii connection. These are the Klaczik families listed on the 1898 HF Glade manifest. As far as I can find out Jacob Klask) is the only one still there in 1900.
