I just visited Milwaukee looking for information on my ggrandfather, August Klabunde. I found the grave and his birthday. When looking for marriage information I found a Carl Klabunde. I thin he was related to August--probably a brother. I am trying to find the Immigration information on that family. The Carl Klabunde I located married Wilhilmine Hackbarth on Oct. 23, 1870. I also found a Gustav, Reinhardt and Albert H. Klabunde. They all married between 1870 and 1884. I didn't find the marriage of my ggrandfather though. I also found the birth infora\mation on George Klabunde, Lillie, Edward, Ella, Paul W., Albert, Elsa, and Meta. If I had known what I would dig up I would have spent an extra night in Milwaukee. Now I just have more questions. Let me know if this helps. M. Waford

I'm doing research in the area around Neustettin in Pommern. I'm in the process of transcribing the records of the parish of Sparsee in that area -- there are many Zastrow and Klabunde families in Sparsee. Do you know where your Zastrows came from? My mother's family came from this area -- her grandfather was born in Sparsee. Her grandfather's sister, Ida Fuhrmann married a Johann Klabunde and came to America in the early 1890's -- they had 16 children. I have a lot of Klabunde 2nd and 3rd cousins.
Let me know the names/approximate dates of your Zastrows and Klabundes and I can at least check my records for any of them.

I just recently discovered that I am related to a "Martha Klabunde" possible daughter of Gustav Klabunde. Do you have any other information on him?

Fred, have you come across a Herman F. W. Klabunde (b.1851) and wife Wilhelmine Kohls (b.1853), immigrated aprox 1893? I think they came from Stettin Germany, but have not been able to confirm this.

Nothing exactly matching, but I do see a marriage of a Karl Klabunde, born 24 Sep 1843 in Streitzig (which adjoins Neustettin), son of Johann and Henriette (Erdmann) Klabunde of Mossin (a village in the parish of Persanzig, adjoining Neustettin). The bride was Ottilie Kohls, who was born in Mossin, 18 Oct 1853, daughter of Karl and Charlotte (Baumgarten) Kohls of Mossin. The marriage was listed in the civil records for the parish of Persanzig, 4 May 1876.
The reference to Stettin (which often got mistakenly recorded for Neustettin) and the combination of names makes this an area you may want to check. It could be a case of brothers marrying sisters. Ottilie did have a sister Wilhelmine, although she was born in Mossin in 1846.

My grandfather was Johann Klabunde married to Ida Fuhrman and my father was Carl Klabunde. I do have some information on my grandmother, but nothing on Johann and who his father or mother is. Can you help?

Sorry, I have no information on this Klubunde. Best chance to find anything is court house records, birth, death etc. Good luck

Dear Fred Nicholson, i found your message by searching google for informations about my ancestors and what a surprise, you found them. Karl Klabunde and Ottilie Klabunde (Kohls) are my great-great-great(?)-grandparents. Now i wonder, if you have any further information about the Klabunde family, especially about the ancestors of Johann and Henriette (Erdmann) Klabunde of Mossin or about Karl and Charlotte (Baumgarten) Kohls of Mossin. Thanks a lot for the information you already posted.
