Klabunde came from the area of East Prussia. Where Stetin, Poland is now. Not a true German name. The name is Baltic for "son of Nicolas". My ancestors came to Texas in the 1880's. They spoke Platt Deutsch. It was a different dialect from most other areas of Germany.
There are Klabunde's in large numbers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin ; Omaha, Nebraska ; San Antonio, Texas ; Cleveland, Ohio. I have not been able to locate any relatives still in Germany.
Good luck.
Douglas Klabunde
