IJsbrand Klaassen (Isaac in the USA) was born in Texel, the Netherlands November 26, 1847. He married in 1874 Trijntje Dijt (Kate). In 1877 they moved from Texel to the nearby Den Helder. They got six children, but there were only four children alive when the family emigrated in the beginning of the 20th century. The oldest son Reinier Johannes Klaassen (Roy) went first in 1903. In 1905 and 1906 the rest of the family followed. I am looking for more information about this family and of course it would be wonderful to find descendants. Below are the children of IJsbrand Klaassen and Trijntje Dijt listed:

1. Maria Johanna (Mary) was born in 1876. She emigrated in 1905 with her brother Martin. In New Jersey she married Maarten Zijm. They got a daughter Stella. In 1928 they lived in Bridgeville NJ. Maarten Zijm died 21 March 1958 Paterson.

2. Reinier Johannes (Roy) was born in 1878. He was a baker. Probably he stayed single. He lived in 1944 on 65 Florida Avenue, Paterson.

3. Martinus Johannes (Martin) was born in 1888. He was a carpenter. His widow Louise {I know nothing about her} lived in 1961 in Hawthorne, 297 Lafayette. In the same year there was a Martin M. Jr Klaassen living too in Hawthorne, 101 Brookside Avenue. Because he was also a carpenter, he might have been a son of this couple.

4. Johanna Catharina (Hanna) was born in 1893. She emigrated with her parents in 1906. In 1910 she worked as winder in the silk mill in Paterson.

Thank you, Miriam Klaassen, the Netherlands
