Most of our family moved to Minnesota but we also have Canadian ties. I have a major Klaassen family tree done by relative in Vancouver. Do you have names of any ancestors so we can check for common names?

Klaassen history?

Kathie, hi, I don't know if I have what you're looking for. But, here goes, I don't have any information about siblings of Abraham Peter Klaassen. His parents were Peter Klaassen and Mary Niefeld. Sorry, he did have one half-brother Cornilous N. Jantzen and a Gertrude Jantzen half-sister. Abraham did have a son Clarence Frank Klaassen, whom is still living. The only other Frank is in his second wife's family, and that is Zacharias. All ancestors on both sides were born in Russia or Germany. Anything else I can help with let me know. All of the names of Klaassen that I'm aware of stayed to the spelling of KLAASSEN. Julie Klaassen

My great great grandfather Abraham Klaassen came from Pragenau,Molotschna Colony in Ukraine in 1874 to Manitoba, Canada. His wife was Helena (Martens) Klaassen. THey came with their teenage children. In 1875, they moved to Hillsboro, Kansas. Some of his sons and their spouses returned to Saskatchewan. Abraham Klaassen died in Hillsboro, Kansas in 1906. My husband and I visited the gravesite in a farmer's field. Eventually, the remains were moved to a cemetary. There is a lot of family history and many descendants around in the U.S. and Canada.

Hi Ruby,
My name is Cameron Longo and my mother is Fern Klaassen, daughter of Daniel W. Klaassen and his wife Katie (nee Klassen) Klaassen. Daniel's parents are P. A. Klaassen and Maria (nee Jantzen) Klaassen, who settled in Beaver Flats, Saskatchewan, Canada. Apparently they left Kansas because of 3 of their sons being conscripted into the US army, and it was not in their Mennonite beliefs to be in war. So they arrived in Saskatchewan with 17 of their children...Actually 14 lived to adulthood. So, I guess, Abraham Klaassen would be my great great grandfather.
