Saw this website and thought I'd check out other Kjellsens. I'm in the Silicon Valley of California.

Hey it's great to see there is other Kjellsens out in the world. I atleast know that you can pronounce the name, From Minneapolis
|
Jon, Actually there are quite a few Kjellsens that aren't too far from you. In fact, you are closer than I am at the moment. I grew up in South Dakota where many Kjellsens are. I'm currently in California. Are you related to the Kjellsens in South Dakota? They're mostly around the Arlington/Brookings area which is close to the Minnesota border.
Have a Happy New Year! Jim

Where did your ancestors come from? My husbands are originally from Denmark. Was wondering where yours are from because I'm trying to find more info for doing family genealogy. Unfortunately I'm not sure when they came to the US. I do know that grandfather was born here in 1904, in New Jersey area. Was told that the original spelling was Kjeldse(o)n. Seen this spelling and thought it could be possible that this is original spelling.

Yes, my parents grew up in Arlington. My parents are Doug and Kathryn Kjellsen. My Grandparents were Martin & Martha Kjellsen. We still have a cabin in the family at Lake Poinset.
|
Jon (right?), Yes I talked with my mom, Doris, who is still in Arlington about your family. She thought that your dad might be Doug. I remember Martin, but mostly the name. I was around Arlington until about 1978. My dad, Donald, passed away last year.
|
Jim, That's right my father was Doug Kjellsen, he married kathryn Madson from Arlington. He passed away about 20 years ago. The Madson family still has a cabin at lake Poinsett. I get to Arlington & lake Poinsett once a year if i'm lucky.

I am curious to know what you may have found on the Kjellsen family history. I am a grandson of Dwayne Kjellsen and Marlys Russet.
