My Great-Grandmother had a brother named David Kjellgren. He was born March of 1889 in Sweden. The family moved to Iron Mountain, Michigan shortly after his birth. At the time of his Mother's death in September 1916, he was serving in the U.S. Navy. After his time in the Navy he settled in New Jersey.David returned to Michigan at least once to visit family here. His parents were Alexander Kjellgren and Anna Nygard. Does any of this sound familiar?

Hello
I'm also trying to find information on my Shelgren family. My grandfather was James Wiley Shelgren. He was born in Williamson Co. Texas. His father was John (Jno) Shelgren born in Sweden and the son of Helen (HS) Gahagan born in Sweden. I found Helen in the 1900 census as 70 years of age. She is living alone. It shows her year of immigration to be 1860. I have found many different spellins for the Shelgren name. (Shellgreen, Shelgren, Kjellgren ect) Any help would be greatly appreciated on my brick wall.
Thanks
Janie

Hi, JUST read your reply! Did your David N Kjellgren have a son, David JR(5yrs old)., a son Fred(9), and daughter Nancy(7)? My David was in the Navy in Hawaii, according to the 1910 census. I also have a record of the 1920 Pennsylvania Census as David N. Kjellgren being the son-in-law to a Frederick & Annie Smith(Annie was from Ireland). Frederick Smith was a Coppersmith in the Navy. It lists Fred's daughters as Margaret and Mabel. I beleve David married Margaret Smith. In 1920 census, it has David N. Kjellgren also working as a Coppersmith of a shipyard in the U.S.N. Fred Kjellgren was my grandfather, David Kjellgren was my great-grandfather. Fred Kjellgren's son Fred M. Kjellgren(born in 1944) is my dad. Are we related? David N. Kjellgren died in Oct. 1982 in NJ(ss#- 139-03-6226) His son David Jr. died in Chester, Pennsylvania on Jan.25, 2004 (ss# 147-12-2786)

Hi. My previous message contains almost all that I know about David Kjellgren. The only things I can add was he had left Michigan before 1910 and that he had a family when he visited his relatives in Michigan in the 1930s.One of his children was also named David. My Mother was too young at the time to remember more. I will add that he had two sisters. Anna and Minnie. Minnie married a man named Andrew Sundwick and they had seven children. Minnie died in Detroit in 1966. Anna was married twice, first to Chester Hermansader and then to Frank Farm. She had a daughter Margaret with Chester and then had three children named Anna, William and Woodrow with Frank. When David visited in the 1930s, He visited my Grandmother's in Ishpeming, Michigan and my Grandmother was married to Elmer Kangas. Does any of this match what you know?

My great grandfather was John (Jno) Shellgren. I have found the spelling for shellgren many different ways. He came from Sweden with his mother and some how they settled in Texas. From the best I can figure from census, they came to America about 1860.
I found his mother in the 1900 census, living alone in a Swedish community in Hutto, Texas.
I'm trying to find where they entered America and how they came to be in Texas. It is really a stonewall.
Any help is greatly appreciated. My email address is:

I eagerly look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you
