Life and Death of Mrs Gulline Velo
Rothsay, Dec 7-Funeral services of Mrs Gulline Amundson Velo a pioneer of this vicinity were held Fri in South Immanuel Church, Rev H Bjornson, the pastor officiating. She was laid to rest in the church cemetery beside her husband and two infant children. She was the widow of Ole Amundson Velo and the family were pioneers here residing on the farm now owned by Melvin Hammer, two miles north of Rothsay. Mr Velo died many years ago. Mrs Velo with her son-in law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Ed Kjella moved to the Becida vicinity nine years ago, making a deal with Mr Hammer, whereby they exchanged farms. They have since resided there. Mrs Velo passed away Nov 24 at a nursing home in Park Rapids at the age of 91 years and seven months. She was a native of Norway where she was born April 30, 1848. She is survided by seven children, a brother and sister. Five of the sons and daughters were here for the funeral also her brother and sister. Her daughter Miss Clara Velo is doing very poorly and has been in the nursing home in Park Rapids since June.
