My wife's grandmother was May Hoffman Doern, whose mother's maiden name was Bauman?, a later wife of Capt. Henry Hoffman. Capt. Hoffman passed away around 1916 when May was 15 years old. The "wealth" is reported to have been lost due to bad investments during the depression.
