My maiden name is Kear which is a derivative of Kjaer. My father came to Canada from Denmark in the 1930s when he was 3 years old. He was born in the Aalborg region but most of the Kjaer family is from the Skanderborg area. We currently live in Saskatoon, Sk., Canada. I will check this message board occasionally.

I was looking for family of mine in USA, but saw also your message. I don't know anything about the Kjaers, but I just looked up the phonebook of east jutland, where Skanderborg is situated. There was at least a hundred Kjaers. It is an pretty ordinary name in Denmark, you know. Not only one, but many families have this name, meaning something like wet fields (I don't know the correct english term). You might try to find theese names at the phone companyes website:
www.teledanmark.dk
but I am afraid it is in danish.

My Kjaer relative was Christian Kjaer from the Fuglesbolle, Langeland, area of Denmark. He died there; his wife and children came to America about 1875 (?) and settled in Wisconsin and Minnesota. The name became Kerr here.

My great grandmother was Ane Kjaer. Her parents were Kjeld Kjaer and Mariane Jensdatter. I am looking for any information. I know that her brothers Christian and Charles went to Michigan.

I find your post interesting because I have just had a professional research report done on my Kjaer line, and I do have a Kirstine Jensdatter b. c. 1783 in Humble, Svendborg, Denmark, who married Lars Nielson (Kjaer) in 1802, also in Humble. No information on her parents though.
Because Lars Nielson Kjaer and Kirstine Jensdatter are the parents of my gggrandfather, Christian Larsen Kjaer,I wonder if there could be a connection. I realize these names are all very common in Denmark though.
