The information I have is from 2001 from
www.rootsweb.com/~tnsumner/kizerph.htm. It shows that John Kizer and Frances Blare had eleven children. John was born in 1803 and died 1/12/1860. I was able to get copies of things like deeds for John from rootsweb.com and boards.ancestry.com.
His father was Philip Kizer, Sr. who was born about 1771 in Germany and died before 1829 in Sumner County, TN. I don't have the name of his wife but do have info for their six children.
From an unknown source I have that Kizer is from the Greek word "C'sar". In German the word Kaiser is pronouced Kizer. You can also look for the variations Kaiser, Kiser and Kyser. The family name you are researching may have been Keiser at first because Philip Kizer's daughter named one of her son's Phillip Keiser Derr. Family members say that Philip Kizer was a Black Dutchman, a German from the Black Forest.
From an unknown source, I also got that Philip Sr. married a Swedish woamn about April 6, 1783.
For Frances Blare (or Blair), I also don't have my sources readily available. I have that she was born on May 2, 1798, the daughter of Peter and Sara Blare (Blair). Her nickname was Fanny. She died on April 20, 1876 in TN and is buried in Old Beech Cemetery on Long Hollow Pike in Hendersonville (actually in the country near there). I visited the cemetery several years ago and was able to find her grave as well as those of several other Kizers.
Hope this helps!
