I'm looking for Lein or Klein ancestors in Kivijarvi, Finland
My grandfather was Bert Lein (born 1887 in Finland, died 1948 in Pelkie, Michigan, USA), and his sister was named Hilma Klein. Hilma entered the US in May, 1914, at the age of 17. The ship manifest says that Hilma came from Kivijarvi in Finland. I'm looking for information on ancestors in Finland. I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: I'm looking for Lein or Klein ancestors in Kivijarvi, Finland
Mary!!! I am the grandaughter of Hilma Klein and I just started my geneological search last week. I am thrilled to find you. I live in Ashtabula OH and I was born in Conneaut OH where my mumma settled. She had only one child, my dad, Paul (who took the surname "Lane"). My dad died in 1982 and I knew only that Mumma came from Finland, never to return. Mumma died in 1972.
We need to email each other. Unfortunately, I don't have any information about our relatives in Finland...but we will find them!
I have photos to share with you. This is sooooo exciting! My name is Paula Lane Raffenaud. I will try to email you when I get home. I am sitting at a computer at the Ashtabula County Genealogical Society.
I have never been to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It must be a beautiful place. Your grandmother must have died young, according to the census records I have seen.

Mary! I am the grandaughter of Hilma Klein. I started my geneological search last week and I am thrilled to have found you. My wonderful mumma died in 1972 and her only child, my dad, died in 1982. His name was Paul (he took the surname "Lane"). I have one sister, Michele Lane Ward. I live in Ashtabula OH, 14 miles from Conneaut where my mumma lived and died.
Mumma was a hard-working woman who spoke not at all of her life in Finland. Unfortunately, I know nothing of our relatives who may or may not still be in Kivijarvi....but we will find them. I'm learning more and more about this research every day. I am working part time at the Ashtabula County Geneological Society.
I hope you see this soon and respond. I am excited!
