I am trying to make that link to Finland right now. I thought the name you were researching Vaino, interesting;
simply wondered if Wayne could be a version of such. Found a family researcher in Evijarvi, a Sakari Kivijarvi and should get an answer back in the week regarding what he has found, as he located my great grandparents and their oldest, Matti, Hanna and Sanfrid Kivijarvi. Like Vaino, Matti mined and died young in a coal mining accident
in Oregon in 1903.
I didn't know Kivijarvi to be unusual--wondered if there were three regions of Finland the name could come from, though clearly Evijarvi is the only place I have confirmed this.
Would love connecting the Kivijarvi Cousins as this has been the hardest family to find any information on.
Sakari said his grandfather was in Canada for about twenty
years, before returning to Finland....so its interesting the ties.
Our family in America, used the translated Stonelake as a surname.
