My son, Kivet, was named after my husband's deceased grandfather-Oliver Kivet Conner. I've been searching for a long time to find the meaning and/or origin of my son's name. I've always assumed it was Irish because that is what my husband's grandfather was. I haven't been able to find any information though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeni

I am a decendant of the peter Kivett clan of Randolph County North Carolina....

Somewhere in my search, which covers more thatn a half century, I seem to remember that in Holland or one of the Scandenavian countries this was the name of a small bird.

Forgive the spelling.... As I am rushing thro these notes... D Madison Bass

Dorothy, do you have James Kivett, born 1834 in Randolph Co? He was the grandfather of my great aunt Mabel Inez Kivett, birn Hendricks Co., IN born 1893.
