I know a lot more about some of Christopher's descendants than his background, but I think it is pretty safe to say that he left Germany for the same reason many others immigrated to the U.S. in the mid-1700s. William Penn did a very good sales job in Germany. This coupled with the nearly constant wars up and down the Rhine Valley was an excellent incentive for moving to this country.
