I am searching for information regarding my Great-Grandfather, Ivan Kitaev, later called John Kitay. I believe he was born in Stavropol ca. 1880's-1890's and was only about 20 or so when he arrived in Canada, ca. 1913-1918. Married to Anastasia Tuchin. Interested in any possible links.

I'm trying again to reach you about the Kitay Family of western Canada. I haven't been able to reach you at all thus far, but I am so very much interested in what you know about my great-grandparents. Please write back soon!

Steve Shaw,
Grandson of George Shakotko and Nathalie Kitay.

I am from Alberta (Western Canada). Turns out Ivan Kitaev (John Kitay) was my great great uncle!!! I am his brother Timothy's (Thomas') great great grandson. He married an Alexandria (Sasha) Stupchenko. They had two children together - Peter Kitay and Ruby Kitay (my Baba). She married a George Woytuck and had 3 kids - Sharon, Robert, and Glen. Robert married Tracey Frerichs and had me (Lyndon) along with my brother (Mitchell). I can give more info. if you're interested. Please reply.

My grandmother is Nathalie... her (late) brothers are John and Fred; sisters Mary, Evelyn, Vera, Ruby, and Lucille. Hopefully these are familiar names, and you'd maybe know my dad, Brian? If we've met, I probably would have been pretty young at the time.
I'd love to get into developing genealogy info about us all!

hi, I didn't know Aunt Kitty's name was really Nathalie. I am Fred's youngest daughter, Amy (Amelia). Your dad is my first cousin. I haven't seen your dad in many years. I saw your grandmother recently when she came up for my dad's service - he just passed away on March 8th. Aunt Kitty is a very special lady and is well loved. I actually need your dad's address because I have a couple pictures for him, but I might be able to get it from one of my aunts. I think it's a good idea to get family info. There's someone else on this website who is from the other side of our family and is looking for info. He is from your great-grandfather's brothers' family. ... xox

I am the granddaughter of Ivan Shakotko, trying to reach Steven Shaw. Your grandfather, George was my uncle. I knew your grandmother too. I don't know about John Kitay, but have lots of info on Ivan Shakotko.

Interesting enough, my Great Grandfather was Andry Tuchin and also lived near Perdue Saskatchewan and was from the Stavropol region. I am not sure what year he came over but I know his wife Elena and his daughter Mary (my grandmother) came to Canada in 1924 to be with him. From My Grandmother and Great Grandmother's immigration papers it looks like they may have come from the village of Burlatskoye in Stavropol region as their next of kin was listed as Tatiana Wasnikova who lived in this village. It seems very possible that Anastasia may have been related to my great grandfather... I know that there was some family in Ontario and an older couple that had visited Saskatoon (where I grew up) and we used to get a Christmas card from them every year...
