Hello..My great, great ,great grandfather William Onyett married Sarah Kisby in 1792 in Chatteris, Cambridge. Their son Thomas came to the U.S. and married Semira Aldrich in Princeton, Indiana in 1844. Sarah's other children were John (1793). Mary (1802), Mary (1804), John (1807), Ann (1813), Henry (1817), Sarah (1817), Elizabeth (1820) and Anne (1822).I haven't found any other Kisby links yet. My e-mail is Foley1@mciworld.com

My ancestors came from (on the whole) the Whittlesey/Coates/Eldernell/March areas of Cambridgeshire. I am as far back as Emmanuel and Jane (nee Perkins) both born abt 1794/5. There are lots of Williams and Levi's in my family tree. I'd be interested to know how far back you are and where your family came from.

Interested to hear that you are interested in a family of Kisby from Cambrigeshire. My ancestors came from (on the whole) the Whittlesey/Coates/Eldernell/March area and I am back to Emmanuel Kisby and Jane (nee Perkins) both born abt. 1794. I have been in contact with a Sean Kisby at sean@kisbee.co.uk who has his own Kisby website. I know that he has a few Sarah and John connections. Please let me know more about your family and I may be able to look out for info on my travels.

Hi

I do have info on a Henry Kisby that married a Elizabeth Needham. They moved 1st to Wisconsin and then later to Iowa (the exact town is at my notes at home). I have info from that area that states that he had a farm of 50 acres, was clear of debt. His 1st wife died. in the 1880 census he was 63, his wife was 20 and they had 4 kids ( thier names I also have and their children down to the 1990's) and

Dear Roxanne,

Hi, I noted the information you gave about your ancestors and included it on my online database. I happened to receive an email about the Onyetts which will probably be of interest to you:

>> I have just come across your family tree information on the internet and I think that maybe you have some wrong information concerning Sarah Kisby and William Onyett of Chatteris in England.

I have done a lot of research on the Onyetts - it was my mother's name - and my interpretation of the parish records etc is as follows:

William ONYETT (born c1770) married Sarah KISBY on 6 June 1792 at Chatteris in Cambridgeshire, England
Their first child John was born in 1793 and died in the same year.
Sarah died and was buried on 16 September 1794 at Warboys, Hunts. (I THINK - the only reference found has been in the Bishop's Transcripts for the parish of Warboys, Huntingdonshire this is a village only a few miles from Chatteris)

What is definite is that William married AGAIN to another Sarah - SARAH PEACOCK on 13 September 1797 in the Parish of Scredington, Lincolnshire (again not many miles from Chatteris) both were given as coming from Chatteris.
This is the Sarah who was the mother of all the remaining children including Thomas who married Semira Aldrich.
William and Sarah eventually moved back to Chatteris and then years later emigrated to America. No more references have been found for Sarah but William died in Louisana and is buried in the Old Lafayette cemetery there as are two of his daughters. the rest of the family remained in Evansville and thereabouts.

I was confused about this for quite a while but was always puzzled by the great gap between the first child John baptised in 1793 and the next child Mary in 1801 after which there was a long succession of children. Why the gap? The fact that William married another woman called Sarah could be the answer.

Sarah PEACOCK was probably the daughter of William PEACOCK and Tomison COX and she was baptised on 30 Sept 1770.
However, I have not absolutely proved this yet.

If I'm correct, I'm afraid it means that the KISBYS do not really have much of a connection to the Onyetts. You can check the info for yourself in the LDS records for the English Parishes if you wish.

I hope this is of interest to you.
Best wishes - Linda Orams <<
