Looking for ancestry of Ida Johanna Kirbis b 5 May 1847 Oberharmersbach nr Lahr, Baden, Germany. Married Johann August Koch abt 1869 in NYC. Her death cert. in 1927 lists parents as Fabian Kirbis and Johanna Heizmann. Supposedly Ida and August had 25 children(!)of whom 7 or 8 survived to adulthood incl. Anna Augusta (b 1872 m Friedrich Hollender), Elizabeth (m Lang),Ida. Family tradition has it that the family was French originally and that an ancestor was a violinist. Any information would be much appreciated.

I also am a Heizmann. My granfather (Gottfreid Heizmann) was born in GenGenbach Germany. Many Many years ago in germany a family would have a farm and all their immediate familiy would have homes surrounding the farm. As they grew up and married more homes were built and the farm expanded to a town To this day in Germany one name dominates in many towns. For many generations the name Heizmann dominates in the town of Fischerbach, Baden. There are no Heizmanns that I am aware of still living in this town (although there are still many in Germany) The cemetary in Fischerbach is full of headsotne with the surname Heizmann. I have not been able to trace too far back as I do not have the time or funds to travel, but I thought this info may interest you. I have an email address for some Heizmanns in Germany that have done quite extensive research on the name although they have not yet tied in my branch. Let me know if you are interested.
