Barbara Katherine Kiracofe, b. August 21, 1829, Augusta County, VA; d. Sept. 17, 1913, Warsaw, IN; m. James Addison Wolfe. He was a millwright, and deserted the Confederate Army during the Civil War. His wife walked from Highland County, VA to Wheeling, WV to meet her husband and from there they met her brothers living in Elida, Allen Co., OH. She was the daughter of Henry Kiracofe and Margaret Dettamore. I have descended through two of Henry's brothers, John Kiracofe m. Susan Wooddell, and George Kiracofe m. Jane Wooddell. My great grandparents were thus double second cousins

Roderick
My great grandmother, Susanna Kiracofe was the older sister of John Van Lear Kiracofe. She married her second cousin, James Madison Andrew, son of Henry Andrew and Mary Kiracofe. My grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Andrew married William Harvey Showalter, and my mother was their only child.

Hello. My grandmother was Martha Silver Kiracofe, daughter of James Ulysses and Sarah Lavina Eby Kiracofe. My grandmother passed away in August of last year. I remember her talking about Susannah, and "Uncle Luther" and "Uncle Cyrus" and she left me some photos of all of the brothers together. Also I have photos and info on Anna Catharine Kerlin, her grandmother. Anyone interested in viewing these photos can email me directly or post a reply leaving a mailing address.

My father has the books on the Kiracofes and I read through it a few weeks ago. I remember the names you mentioned being in those books along with photos of many of them. My photo is also in the books, along with the rest of my family. I was about five when the photo was taken. Are you in this book as well?

Yes, I anm in the book twice, as I descended from two of Frederick Kiracofe's sons,,John and George. Since the book has appeared, a major correction should be made in the early history as a result of the consultation of the church records at the Zion-Pine Lutheran Congregation as well as the Reformed Congregation in Stony Creek, Shenandoah Co, and as well as a closer examination of the Records of the Emmanuel Union Church near Sangersville, VA. The author, Lula Miller, did not have access to the Zion-Pine records, and she misread some of the Emmauel Church Records written in German script. The Zion-Pine Register began in 1785, therefore the oldest son does not appear. At a later date, a register, now referred to as Old Pine was made available to members of the congregation in which Frederick Kiracofe enter only the two sons born of the first wife. The surname is spelt Kirchhof until the 1830s when English began to replace the German. And then it appears as Kiracofe, the form of the name I will use.

Children by the first wife, Catharine Wacker, of Frederick Kiracofe:

1. [John Kiracofe: b. April 31!!, (1784), he does not appear in the Zion-Pine Books, as he was born before they were started)]
2. Elizabeth Kiracofe: b. 30 Aug. 1785
3. Anna Maria (Mary) Kiracofe: b. 15 March 1787
4. Anna Christina (Christine): b. 14 Sept. 1789
5. Heinrich (Henry): b. 20 Oct 1791 (in the Old Pine register, Frederich wrote his name as Georg Heinrich which Lula Miller misunderstood to be George Kiracofe, and hence the errors to be found in all genealogies based on her work.)

Catharine died between 1791 and 1794 and Frederick married Barbara Koontz.

Their Children according to the Zion-Pine Records:
6. George Kiracofe: b. 20 March 1796
7. Frederick Kiracofe (Caricofe); b. 5 June 1797

Then we go to Sangerville and must rely on the records there. Not all of Frederick's children appear in this Register, so the chronlogy as given below has to be somewhat speculative.

8. Anna Kiracofe
9. Susanna Kiracofe
10. Catharine Kiracofe
11. Jacob Kiracofe (Karicofe: b. 6 July 1807
12. Andrew Kiracofe (Karicofe): b. 1 Nov. I809
13. Hannah Kiracofe
14. Barbara Kiracofe: b. 6 Oct 1811

My lineage though John Kiracofe is:

Frederick Kiracofe m. Catharine Wacker (1st wife)
John Kiracofe m. Susan Wooddell
James Kiracofe m. Eliazbeth Cupp
Susanna Kiracofe m. James Madison Andrew

My lineage through George Kiracofe:
Frederick Kiracofe m. Barbara Koontz (2nd wife)
George Kiracofe m. Jane Wooddell
Mary Kiracofe m. Henry Andrew
James Madison Andrew m. Susanna Kiracofe
Mary Elizabeth Andrew m. William Harvey Showalter
Elsie Virginia Showalter m. Ira William Shindle
And then there's me
VOL. 1, p. 132 and p. 273
On page 376, you will see a picture of my great grandparents and their six children. In the picture at the bottom of the page was a reunion that took place at the Pinnacles on the Sky Line Drive in VA. where the two youngest siblings, Uncle "Link" (89 years) and Aunt Rose (87 years) are seated, and lined up behind them are all the first cousin. My mother is the second from the left. This picture was taken in 1968.
