This is just a short note to tell you of some records I found on-line for Clinton, MO, 1910 to 1920 leading up to the 1930 Denver census, I think. In 1910 in Clinton MO, I found James W Kiper, age 14. He has a brother named Jefferson F who is 4. Their parents are John & Nancy. John and Nancy show as originally from Kentucky. I found James W's 1917 draft card / registration. It shows him as 23 years old, married without children, living in Clinton. His wife's name is not listed. In 1920, James W is still in Clinton. At age 25, he is the head of his own household and is married to Rosie, age 21. James and Rosie have a son, James Jr - 1 year, 4 months. The record shows James born in Missouri with his parents originally from Kentucky, so he looks to be the same James W as from the 1910 census. I can't find James W Kiper in Clinton or Denver in the 1930 census. Instead, Frederick J (Jefferson F, James' bro from the 1910 census) is age 25. His wife is Rosa, age 27. If Rosa and Rosie are one in the same, it means Rosie changed her name and began to lie about her age (if she's the same wife as James W's from the 1920 census, then Grandma Rosa was 6 or 7 years older than Grandpa Fred). If Rosie and Rosa are the same, her son James Jr, who would have been 11 in 1930, dropped off the face of the earth. I wonder if he got left behind when she took off with Jefferson F/ Frederick J? My dad, shows as John R. Kipper and is listed as "step-son" and the oldest in 1930 at age 7. Samuel B (Bennie), age 5, is the next oldest. Jefferson F (Fritz?), is age 1 year, 6 months. Joyce B is 6 months. They all lived at 1303 W 14th Ave in Denver. The 1940 census isn't public yet; it gets released next year. That's when we'll be able to see the info for your mom and the rest of the clan. It's also when I expect to see my dad listed as John Kipper Smiley, no longer a step-son.--------------------
