Trying to trace my Great-great grandmother, Julia Ann Kin(g)sley Harwick, b. either 1811 or 1813, probably somewhere in Herkimer County NY. She married James Philip Harwick around 1847, probably in the Town of Stark, Herkimer Co. NY. They had one son, John K. Harwick b.1847.

According to "History of Herkimer County", by George A. Hardin and Frank H. Willard, they state the following with regards to Julia Ann Kin(g)sley:

"HARWICK, Joseph, Stark, came from Rensselaer county and settled where our subject resides about 1790. He died about 1815. He was twice married, raised one son, Conrad Harwick, who was born October 10, 1774, and came with his father to Stark, where he died in October, 1862. He served in the war of 1812 at Sackett's Harbor. His wife was Sarah, daughter of Garett and Anna M. Brower. Subject's mother died in 1848. She had five children, three survived: Christina Snell, John P. and Anna M. Gaungs.

John P. Harwick was born June 15, 1813, and has always resided here, owning 107 acres. He has been a Whig and Republican. He married in February, 1847, Julia A., daughter of David and Luvina (Brower) Kingsley, and they had one child, James K., born December 26, 1847, who lived with his parents and ran the farm. He married March 11, 1891, Effie, daughter of Berry and Lucy (Ward) Eckler. They have one child, John H." (Berry should read Benjamin or Ben Eckler)

I have not been able to find anything to corroborate that her mother and father were a "David and Luvina (Brower) Kingsley". The only thing I did find was that on the 1870 census, they had a Lydia Brower, age 78, living with her and John P. in Van Hornesville. If this is her mother (Lydia instead of Luvina?), why would she be living with them under her maiden name of Brower and not Kingsley? Also, I have found a Lydia Brower that seems to correspond to this Lydia Brower living in other people's household's as a servant in 1850 and 1855.

Furthermore, that passage also states that Sarah Brower, wife of Conrad Harwick, was the daughter of Garett and Anna Brower. I found a Gerrit and Annatje (Anna) Zeegers Brower who had a daughter named Lydia born 1792 in Fonda, Montgomery Co. (age matches the Lydia I found), but no daughter named Sarah. Curiouser and curiouser....

I could not, however, find a David Kingsley who matched any of the dates or is connected in any other way with my Julia Ann. Could the information in the "History of Herkimer County" be wrong? (I'm guessing possibly, because they misspelled Ben Eckler as Berry, LOL!)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
