Hoping someone can tell me if Kimsey is Scottish. Family tradition states that a Benjamin Kimsey came to the U.S. escaping the highland clearances after the '45. However, we can't find the surname anywhere. Benjamin was in the Scotch-Irish community in Augusta, Virginia, by the early 1750s, so he might possibly have been an Ulster Scot. Can anyone enlighten me?
