He came from Oxfordshire, Eng, son of Richard and Emma Freeman Kimbell. He came first to Kane Co, IL, and then in 1878, he moved to Woodson Co, KS. In 1900 he moved to Yates Center, KS. He raised horses. Children were listed as Edward R. Kimbell, who married Louisa B. Smith; Harry H. Kimbell; Caroline E., wife of Carl Reynolds of Savonburg, KS; and Fannie L. Kimbell. He was a Past Master Mason, a Knight of Pythias, and in the Order of Red Men.
