There is a huge community of Kimbel's in the Quad City area (Illinois/Iowa border). I would guess that there are at least 150-200. If you need any information are are searching for someone - we may be able to help. I can forward your request to multiple Kimbel's and get the wheel going. You may not be aware of this, but all Kimbel's who spell there name like ours are distantly related. The Kimbel name derived from the former Kimball in the early 1700's. Much like the Kimble name! However, it was changed by a gentleman who was having difficulty finding work during that time due to the misgivings of a William Kimball. That is all the info I can get at this time. However, I do know from searching the Geneology Institute at BYU that the name was derived in this mannor and that all the progeny of that one man have developed this family. He had 11 children and 29 grandchildren so you can see how it flowed from there. His name was Eli Marrion Kimball (ne Kimbel). Good luck searching

I am looking for any information you might have on a Nora Kimbel. She was born August 18,1878 and died December 26, 1959. She married Robert Oscar Phillips and they had eleven children when they relocated to Texas somewhere around 1913. My husband's grandmother was Maggie pauline Phillips, the 8th child of Nora and Robert. Any info? Thanks

Hi JKIMBEL

I resently recieved a message from a Branson Kimball who has traced his family back to the ones buried at the Cane Creek (Quaker) cemetery at (old Orange) now Alamance Co., NC.

I was able to find what was there in some books I have but could go now father.

Could you contact him at;

bransonkimball@mac.com

If you have time and think you might be of help.

His e-mail to me;

I'm also a Cane Creek descendant but unlike many of our CC cousins I have a
big mystery. We don't know where our Kimball came from. Yesterday while
going back over the 1860 Alamance census.. I saw something that I've never
paid attention to before. There's a S.W. KIMBLE, age 19, counted in John
STAFFORD's home. You may know John's wife.. Ruth DIXON Stafford. John is
listed as a machinist, age 60, and he has no children with his name in the
home. Here's the entire listing:

from Alamance 1860 Census, South District [around Snow Camp], p. 179..
Dwelling #21, Household #21
John Stafford, 60, M, Machinist, birth in NC
Ruth Stafford, 57, F, NC
Marion Bailiff, 24, F, NC
S.W. Kimbel, 19, M, NC
John S. Albright, 16, M, NC
Ruth E. Albright, ?, F, NC
W.S. Albright, 11, M, NC
Ruth Moon, 35, F, NC
Cleopatra Dixon, 18, F, NC
Franklin Dixon, 2, M, NC
