Achill/Cleveland Kilbanes

I am searching for information on what may be two different sets of Kilbanes.

The first set would be Pat Kilbane who married Bridget Corrigan, daughter of Tom Hughie Corrigan and Mary Kilbane. Bridget would have been born about 1893. They had the following children: John who married a Bridget O'Donnell, Patrick, Thomas, Michael who married a Maureen Neeham, Eamonn who married a gal whose surname was Masterson, Molly who married a Rick Nass, Annie and Nora.

Pat and Bridget both died in Achill. I have no information on any of their descendents.

The 2nd set of Kilbanes I am researching are the parents of Mary Kilbane who married Tom Hughie Corrigan. I believe her father was Patrick and her mother was Margaret. I think she had a brother Hugh. Or Hugh could be Mary's grandfather.

I am trying to find a link between the 2nd set of Kilbanes and a Delia Kilbane who married John Mannix in Cleveland, Ohio. Delia's death certificate lists her parents names as Patrick Kilbane and Celia Gallagher. Delia had a brother Michael and a brother Patrick. Patrick's death certificate lists his parents name as Patrick Kilbane and Celia McCarthy.

The reason I think Delia is related to some branch of my Kilbane relations is because my Aunt is buried with Delia, her husband, her brother Patrick and Delia's daughter Mary and her husband James Ginley.

I have come across some Kilbane passenger records for a Mary, Celia and Catherine Kilbane all of who list a Hugh Kilbane as their father from River, Achill and Mary lists her US contact as her aunt Delia Mannix. The address listed is 1283 W 28th St, Cleveland, Ohio. Celia lists her US contact as her sister Mary at the same address and Catherine lists her sister Mary Joyce as her US contact and again lists a US address of 1283 8th St, Cleveland, Ohio - which I think is a typo and should be the W 28th st listed by the others.

If anyone can help me make sense of all this I would be eternally grateful.

All of the Kilbanes are 1 family. My uncle Bob Kilbane passed away in 2007. His wife, Aunt Alice, is still alive and living on the west side of Cleveland. my cousin, Bobbie lives in either Rocky River, or Bay Village (Cleveland suburbs). My grandfather was Martin Kilbane. My mom was Margaret Mary Kilbane. My dad was Brian Corrigan. When our whole family went to Ireland (Achill Island, Co. Mayo) when I was a teen I remember meeting the Kilbanes and learning that Kilbanes had married Corrigans & vice versa for several generations. As it turns out, I have Masterson cousins in Owenduff (Achill) to whom I am 'double related'. Their Masterson grandmom was a Kilbane & their mom was my dad's sister, Bridget Corrigan. Some of the old folks (Kilbanes) that I remember meeting include, Seamus, Patrick, Neal, Joseph. In fact, Mr. Josie Kilbane is a CPA on the west side of Cleveland. Try North Olmsted or Westlake, Ohio. I also remember a Kilbane who was called "Pat the Fiddler" who lived off Ricky River Drive near Puritas Rd. in Cleveland. He was around my parent's age & I think he has also passed away.

I just came across this reply to my post. I don't know why I did not see it when you originally posted it. Bridget Corrigan was my grandfather's sister. I would love any information you might have to share. Please contact me at madsen1fan@aol.com.

I have been to Achill twice, I met a Kilbane relation who worked for a hotel down near Shannon.

I have not heard from you since you responded to my original post.

I am most anxious to be able to fill in the blanks on this side of the family.

I would like to know the dates of death for Brigid and Patrick Kilbane if known and also the updated information on what became of the children of this couple.

Any information you are willing to share would be most appreciated.

You can responded via this message board or contact me directly at madsen1fan@aol.com

Thanks,

Jo Ann
