Have you been able to find any information on your Kilbane family in Ireland? Almost all of the Kilbanes come from Achill Island and it seems their naming patterns are all much the same. I started doing research on Patrick Heaney, Cecilia Heaney Kilbane's father, who seems to have just disappeared during the 1930s, for Nancy (Ann) Kilbane Hopkins. My daughter is married to Marty Hopkins, a son of Nancy's. I have not been able to find anything on Patrick Heaney. Unfortunately Nancy pased away October 23, 1999, her husband George (Skip) Hopkins died December 1, 1999. It was a very sad time.

Nancy and Skip BOB are my aunt and uncle. Nancy was my dad sister. Marty is my cousin. I'm the oldest of eight children. I haven't had much luck tracing back my grandparents back to achill. I can't figure it out. Thank you Joe Kilbane

Mayo got onto "Mayo on the go" web site. From there I just Typed in Achill Island. Unfornately reading your message, I don't think that we are in the same Kilbane Line, Our family is the decendant of Neil Kilbane Of Shraheens, Achill Island his wife was a Pattan from the village of Dereens on Achill. My mother is in her seventies, her father was James [John] Kilbane during the Depression he wandered off and was never heard from again. She would like to know more aboutthe Kibane family and she could probably shed some more light on them. Her older Brother John Jr. is still living ,after leaving Ireland they settled in Minnesota .

The Kilbane family I am researching came from Belfarsad, Achill, County Mayo in Ireland. Patrick Kilbane and Mary Patton were parents of John Kilbane, m. Ann McNulty. They had about 9 children. Patrick b. abt. 1892, John, b. abt. 1895, James Joseph, b. about 1896, Ellen, Catherine, b. about 1900, Martin, Joe, Mike, Mary.
James Joseph came to America and settled in Cleveland, OH.
What is your mother's first name? Do you know what town she came from? Most of the Kilbanes come from Achill Island in County Mayo.
Please e-mail me about your family.
