I think it's important that we know where we come from! :) Does anyone have an account on how the Kilaykos came to this country and any more history prior to that...? (Hehehe) Hmm... It'd be nice if we knew the accomplishments of other Kilaykos! :D
Can anyone help...? I'm really curious! Thanks! :)

Hi Giscelle... I think we e-mailed each other a long time ago. One of the best persons to chat with is L. Tutay. I am not sure if he was the one who researched our ancestry and traced it to China. Do you know Alberto Kilayko from Iloilo? He's been trying to set up the family tree of the Kilayko's. When I was there two Christmases ago, I volunteered to help but I have been so inundated with work. I may do it when I retire. There are only three "elder" Kilayko's left, I think... one from each branch. We better tap their brains before we lose all our history. I'm glad you are interested in looking into our ancestry. My father (Doming) is 91 and T. Berto is just about the same age. I remember when we attended a Kilayko reunion at Lola Celsa's house in Bacolod and meeting all our relations. But of course, that was eons of years ago. Corazon Kilayko Kinoshita

Yes! :) We DID used to e-mail... You're in Canada right?
I haven't seen Lolo Tutay for a loooong time! If I get a chance to see him again, I'll be sure to ask him a couple of questions about our history. Thanks for the tip!
Hmm...Alberto Kilayko...He's familiar, but I don't remember his face! I rarely see my Visayas relations now, save for Tito Larry Kilayko and his family... If L. Berto does finish our family tree, be sure to let us know okay? I'd be willing to help too if I knew how to go about it... :)
Lola Celsa had a house in Bacolod...? Hmm... I wonder if I'd ever gone there... I have pictures of the house in Iloilo though! :) --- Family pictures my Dad had recopied.
Hope you're doing well! :)

Tita Cora! Remember me? I have a renewed interest in our family history, and I'm wondering if anybody's got some comprehensive information...Particularly the Chinese connection. Thanks!
|
Hi Giscelle. I do remember you. I'll try to get some information from my father. There are not very many of the senior kilaykos left so we'd better get going on this quickly. I'll get back to you soon. Cheers. T. Cora
