My mother was Bertha G. Kightlinger, b. 1870, McLean County, Illinois. Married Thomas M. Carey 1895 Burlington, Coffey County, Kansas.
Her Parents were Abraham (I or J)Kightlinger and Cynthia Ann Grubb. Abraham was born ca. 1840 in Ohio, Probably Union County. Died 1890, Burlington, Coffee County, Kansas. Was in 4th Ohio Vol. Inf. in Civil War, and survived Andersonville Confederate prison.
Abraham above was son of Abraham Kightlinger, and his wife may have been Nancy. (Delaware County land record shows one Abraham with wife Nancy selling land - pre 1850 ). 1850 Union County Census lists Abram Kitelinger age 50 (with wife Jane - "married within the year") and Kightlinger children Sarah age 26, Betsey 22, Walter 18, Alexander 13, Abram 11 (MY GRANDFATHER), Edward 6, and the following WHITE Children: Barbara 17, Sarah 16, Isaac 10, Richard 9, Joshua 7 --- I assume these were children of 2nd marriage to Jane White. Also, not living at home in 1850 were Ashley Kightlinger, William Kightlinger and John Kightlinger. 5 of the Kightlinger sons were in CIVIL War, according to Union County Ohio History Book.
It is my understanding that my next generation is ANDREW Kightlinger, Jr. of Pennsylvania. History book states Andrew, Jr came to Ohio with sons Abraham and George. George settled in Marion County and my greatgrandfather Abraham settled later in Union County, at Pharisburg.
I wish to share information with any Kightlinger researcher. I corresponded with Mrs. Frankye Andres for several years before her death, and have her data on file. Thanks for your reply to above e-mail address.

I'm looking for copy of will of my husband's gggggrandfather Jacob Keitlinger(Kiteling/Kightlinger} which was made prior to Revolutionary War. Our cousin, Frankye Andres, also sent me info on Kightlingers (our line goes: Jacob, Andrew Sr/Lttle George, Jacob S., Aquilla Ayres and George Fee Kightlinger) but never gave me birthplace or copy of will of Jacob Keitlinger. Any info will be most apprecated.

Eileen; I would bet you have tried Crawford Co PA for the will you need - but probably if it existed Frankye Andres would have mentioned it. However, Crawford Co was not formed until 1800 - and from Allegheny Co. (PITTSBURGH IS in Allegheny Co.) Cumberland Co. PA is another possibility and it was formed pre-revolution in 1750 - from Lancaster --- so Lancaster might be another possibility. Lancaster was formed from Chester Co. in 1729 - so...that might be the right courthouse. You probably know all of this but let me hear from you. Just send an e-mail, as I just happened to see your Kightlinger message board message.

My greatgrandfather is Isack Kightlinger, Not sure if spelling of first name is correct. But he was from either Penn. or West Virginia. One of his sons Ralph Kightlinger is my grandfather. He moved out to California in late 1890 to early 1900.

I am looking for information on Laura Kightlinger of Pa. She is my g-grandmother. She married Leroy Mott. They were from the Titusville, Pa area. I don't know the year that she was born, but one of her sons Levi Mott was born 1887. If you would have any information on this line I would appreciate it. I have come to a dead end and most of the family that is living remembers nothing.

Hi Don - have been away and not checking/doing my genealogy as I should. Thank you for the leads. I believe Lancaster county will be the place to find the will. Frankye was our cousin and we use the Stainbrook book she helped to compile. Thanks again. Eileen K
