Hi
I,m looking for information on the Kiggin family who originated in Ireland (don't know where).

Patrick Kiggin married Bridget Cassidy in 1849 in Barton Upon Irwell in Manchester, England. His father was Fergus Kiggin her father Thomas Cassidy.. They had 4 children that I know of. 1851 Catherine brn in Ireland, 1853 my Gggrandfather Thomas brn in Ireland, 1858 Margaret brn in Barton and Bridget 1859, who died in infancy. Patrick seems to have died at this point but not in England. By 1870'ish Bridget has married John Quigley. Thomas married Betsey Fox in Astley in 1872. I know most of the rest. Any help with where they came from in Ireland would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Sheila

My Kiggin family seem to originate in Galway, southern Ireland, although I have found no direct evidence to suggest that they do. However, this is not for want of trying. I have contacted both east and west Galway Family History Societies and they inform me that they have kiggins residing in that area. It seems that records have either been destroyed or not open to the public at this moment in time. Census have been no help either. Suffice it to say that kiggins is a name that is situated in the Connamara area and the name is related to Joyce.
I would be happy for Marrissa to contact me at sytully@aol.com to swop any information.

Hi,

Just seen this although it is now very old by internet standards.

My family name is Kiggins and they come from Tuam, in Galway.
My father is Edward born in 1933. He emigrated to the UK in the 1950's, fathered 10 children, who are all alive and well and living in the UK.

If this information is useful or you would like any further details, I am happy to ask him for you.

Hi Sheila

Hope you don't mind me contacting you.
I am trying to find Kiggins from Feigh in Galway.
I have a Mary Kiggins who married John Fahy around 1897 - 1904(A guess at this point).
I found Mary's parents Pat Kiggins and Bridget Carroll and there the trail ends so far.
John and Mary had around 8 children some of which moved to UK and Boston.
Do you have any info or idae where I can find out more?
I am located in Blantyre, Scotland.

Many thanks

Mandy

research the egan castle in ireleand. we were the foot soldiers with the four masters. this existed from 1250 or so and has been restored in ireland. many of the kiggans/kiggins roots start there. o'keegan. good luck hon.
