Edith Mabel Kiddle mother of Leslie Jack KIddle born Aug 1915

Could anyone help or offer any ideas for tracing the origins of Edith Mabel Kiddle.

She gave birth to Leslie Jack Kiddle in August 1915 at St Mary Abbotts Hospital (previously known as the Kensington Workhouse).

On Leslie's birth certificate, Edith's occupation is listed as a waitress and her address is 68 Cromwell Rd, South Kensington.

Leslie Kiddle was adopted by Mrs Alexander who lived in Aintree Street, Hammersmith and was known as Leslie Alexander until he located a copy of his birth certificate in order to get married. I would also like to know more about Mrs Alexander & how she came to adopt Leslie.

Any information or suggestions would be great.

Many thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your kind offer of help.

The problem is all that we know about Mrs Alexander is that she lived in Aintree St, Fulham/Hammersmith and died around 1945.

Thanks very much for taking the time to find this information for me, I am really grateful to you.

I think this could be the lady I am looking for as Edith Kiddle gives her address on the 1915 birth certificate as 68 Cromwell Rd, Kensington, which is less than 1/2 a mile away!

She is the sister of my Grandmother, Ethel Ellen KIDDLE who was born 12 Dec 1881 in Wymondham, Norfolk, England.

Edith is one of 12 children to Thomas KIDDLE and Martha Ann KIDDLE nee BARNES, all born between 1874 and 1900.

I have not undertaken any research on Edith M KIDDLE so cannot assit in Leslie Jack history but would be very interested in what you have discovered.
