Also looking for information on William F Kidder who was also in Yokohama, Japan in 1894..Kidder & Co., Imports .. he was only there for a year. Parents? where he was born and when?
Thanks for any assistance.

All I know about James is in my original post ...that he went to Japan in 1876 and returned in Dec of 1878 and that he may have been a teacher. A gentleman from Germany wrote to me in regard to two other Kidders who also went to Japan as teachers and died there. They were both women and were missionaries. Very interesting.... He asked me about James Kidder and William F. Kidder and I told him I'd see what I could find. I have many Kidder "cousins" .. my 3xgreat grandmother was Harriet Kidder, her father was Thomas Boynton Kidder.

Thanks again for the info. Yes, those are the two ladies who went to Japan. Mary Eddy Kidder founded a school in Japan. I think it's still there, but am not sure. I will pass the information on James along and will see if I can find anything else about him.
Thanks,
Kathy
