Hi Gene,
I have family connections with the Kidd Family from Bloom City, Richland area, on my father's side (both his mother and father had cousins named Kidd). My father's parents were John Lester (aka Lester John)and Bertha Geneva (nee Tanner) Abbs.

I am also descended from Catherine Lewis McMahan, who first married Israel Enoch Cooper and had several children - one of them George Washington Cooper married Dora Virginia Kidd, and then married Henry Abbs and had several more children (thus the Cooper/Abbs Kidd connection). My great-grandmother was Eva Mae Spry, daughter of Timothy H. & Hilah Mae (nee Thorpe) Spry, and her sister, Inez Opal Spry married Joseph Freedom Kidd, (thus a Spry/Kidd connection again). Hazel Schoonover married Harold Glen Kidd (my father's maternal great-grandmother was Elizabeth Schoonover married to Elias Tanner) thus the Tanner/Schoonover Kidd connection.

Recently I have begun concentrating on the Spry and Kidd family connections, so that is why I have sent you this email. If you would like to email me directly, please email me at srast87@mwt.net I would enjoy learning more about the Kidd Family from Richland County, WI, and from postings I have read, you seem to be the person who knows alot about them.

I will share some information my father told me years ago. Joe Kidd had told my grandfather that the Tanner family was looking for Tanner heirs (since my father's maternal grandfather had been Samuel Lester Tanner); the inheritance turned out to be an empty cemetery plot in the Richland Center Cemetery -- the plot next to his where his grandfather, Samuel L Tanner, was buried. That plot originally was meant for Samuel Tanner's wife, Dora Arminda Fry, but she remarried after Samuel's death and was buried in Fort Atkinson instead of Richland Center.

Inez: I don't know if you are still searching, but I wanted to know if you have found your family yet? We have tested DNA with Family Tree DNA and thought I should let you know.

Hi,

I have been away from this site for some time. My Kidd relatives go back to James W Kidd & Sarah Bristow in Bloom City, WI.

I also recently did a DNA kit with Ancestry and it has been quite valuable. I look forward to having a Kidd DNA circle in the future.

I am trying to find any active people that are searching the Kidd line now. I had a lot of help from Gene Kidd and a Joan Baker in the past. I do not know if they are still researching.

let me know if I can help.

Jim

Hi Jim,

I still look for more information on our Kidds in Wisconsin. Ours went to Grant Co. in the 1840's from Columbiana and Mahoning Counties of Ohio. They came from north Yorkshire, England, near Whitby around 1820. I have not found a connection between the Grant Co. Kidds and the Bloom City Kidds, other than I think both groups were in the Civil War and may have known one another from there. My Kidds were three brothers William, George and Hodgson and their parents were George Kidd and Mary Hodgson.
