Claude,

I'm was glad to see you searched the ellis island site. It is overwhelming,I think, just to see your family name listed!!!
Some of these may be uncles or aunts listed in the manifests
but for the time I have no idea. Hoping to hear from Barb soon to pass on info. Also searching Nedza, Bielenda & Fila names,Grandmothers ancestry. Check out Illinois death records also. found Jan W. Kida 1884-1931& Anna K. Kida 1872-1947(my grandparents)

Claude,
Also sent you a page from ellis island site thinking this may be our Frank and Andrew. They are both listed together as coming over in 1921 at the ages of 14 and 16. Andrew was born in 1905 so it would make the age correct. Not sure about Franks.

Hey Cathy,

Sorry, I've been out of the loop. Was showing my mom some old photos and trying to get names and she said something about the Kidas and I remembered I hadn't been in touch.

How is your search going? My mom said that Bielenda was from Germany - the area later became Gdansk but at the time was part of Germany. When my g-grandmother returned to Europe she went to Stobierna. Not sure why but that is where the Germany-Poland thread came in.

Let me know if I can try to get any more info for you.

All the best.

Barb Hello,
What a coincidence, as I've been thinking of you!!!
I have been out of the loop for quite awhile myself. Recently we found my Grandmother Anna's maiden name as Sutyla on my uncle Eds' birth certificate, another piece to the mystery, as Nedza is on my dad's. I've posted messages concerning various surnames, Kida, Nedza, Sutyla- but no replies that I can make heads or tails of because of lack of family knowledge on my part. My Dad whom I still miss dearly passed away Dec. 16th 2002. He was my only close resource of info and he really didn't have much to tell. Anna's Kida's death records are in Cambridge, Il & Jan Kida's are in Lee County,Il as that is where he passed away when my Dad was 5 yrs. old. That's where I need to start! Take care, Hello to all

Claude,
Wondering if your still researching? If so, have you any new or interesting information? I have been searching the U.S. census online at Heritage Quest through our local library. Found many Kida's throughout the earlier U.S. census(back thru the later 1800's).
