I am looking for information regarding my great grandmother, Mary Kida (married name). She was a Polish immigrant in 1898(?). She first resided in New Jersey and move to Baltimore City, Maryland in the early 1900's(before 1917) where she lived the rest of her life. She lived on Regester Street in the Fells Point area. She died in Baltimore in the mid/late 1970's or early 80's. She was married twice and had children with both husbands. I am family from the first marriage (Kida history). The second husband was a Selinski. One of the husbands was a mortician. I am looking for any information to search for family history.

My maternal great-grandmother was Anna Kida. She was born about 1890. She did not emigrate to the US. My mother did. She was born in Kamien, 48 km north of present day Rzeszow, Poland. Let me know if you think we might be related.

Hello,
I have just discovered a Selinksi in our family background and I am wondering if you can help. My Joseph Selinski would have been born just before 1900, about 1890, possibly in the New Haven, CT area, and might have changed his name to Sheldon. He may have had a brother named August who was a "merchant tailor" in New Haven in the 1920s. It's also been told (but not proven, yet) that he died at his brother's ranch in VanCouver, British Columbia, Canada. Do you have any clues that might help me find this gentleman, who would be my grandfather? Thanks. Deborah J. Koehler

Richard,
My paternal grandfather is from Lowisko Poland. Lowisko is approximately 27km north of Rzeszow. His name was Francisrek (Frank) Kida. He immagrated to New York in 1904, and settled in Shennandoah, PA. Kida is a common surname in Poland, but the geographical similarities are interesting. My father and I are attempting some research on Frank Kida currently. We have only made modest progress. I would be interested in corresponding with you concerning our searches.

Thank you,

Paul

Greetings Joe:

Your mention of "Kamaen" is interesting. Are you possible referring to Kamien k. Nisko, just north of Rzeszow? My mother, daughter of Anna Kida and Jozef Dalenta, was born in Kamien in 1915. Anna Kida was the daughter of Adalbertus and Maria Kida. There are quite a few Kidas currently living in Kamien and the nearby villages of Lowisko and Gorno. In cooperation with two other persons, I am attempting to obtain church records from the Kamien parish, but is is a very slow process. If you have any Kida records (birth, marriage or death)which you are willing to share, please let me know and maybe we can compare notes.

Keep in touch. Best Regards, Richard Pakula

Richard,
I don't really know anything about Kamaen, Poland. I learned about my grandmother's birthplace from a social security application. My mother doesn't know about this town, I guess my grandmother never spoke of it. If I do find anything more I will let you know.

Regards,
Joe Misiewicz

Paul, It sounds like your father might be related to Anthony J. Kida, whose fathr is Franciszek Kida who was born October 15, 1882 in Lowisko, Austria occupied Poland. He emigrated from Bremin, Germany 4 June 1904 aboard the SS Friedrich der Grosse, steerage, and docked in New York 14/15 June 1904. He processed through Ellis Island. He registered for the draft in WW 1 in Pa. but had no service. He died 9 January 1934 in shenandoah, Pa. His last address was 442 S. Jardin St. He had no Social Security number. I have an E-mail address for A. J. (Jack) Kida. He currently resides in Phoenix, Pa. I am doing my own family tree and offered to help Jack, who is a long time friend. Please respond. My E-mail address is hll@peoplepc.com.
