My fathers name is Charles Kick, we lived in Grayslake, IL. Perhaps you have heard of him. His father Horace Kick came from Middlezoy,Somerset, England. Do you have any Idea where in England your Charles came from? Have a good day!

My mother's father, Charles Kick was born in Othery Parish, Somerset(Somersetshire) England. His mother, Sarah Gillord, was born in Middlezoy, Somerset, England. In the soundex for passengers arriving in New York, there is an entry for Charles Kick as follows: Charles Kick age 20 Citizen of England Steamer: Etruria Line: Cunard Arrival: 23 April 1905 Group 28, List #29 1910 Census Roll 1,374,314 Antioch Twn. ED 0092 Visitation 0530 Lake County, Lake Villa, Illinois Charles Kick, hired man was enumerated with George F. Hucker. He was 24 yrs, born in England and came to the U.S. in 1905. This was my grandfather, as far as we know. Incidentally, I have a cousin named Kathleen Kick, who was born in Grayslake, ILL in 1947!

Oops! In re-reading one of the messages I posted, I realize that my grandfather, Charles Kick, was listed as dying in 1903---it was 1923. I have a cousin by the name of Kathleen Kick who was born in 1947, presumably in Grayslake, where her grandparents lived. She only lived in Grayslake as an infant. I remember hearing from family members about a large Kick family living in Illinois, but, to whom we weren't related. Are you both of that family?
