My great-grandfather, Charles Kick, came here from Bavaria (now Bayern, the largest and most southern state in Germany.) Sorry I can't be of more help with your research.

My grandfather, Horace, was born in or around Middlezoy, Somerset, England. He immigrated to the U.S. in the early 20th Century. My father, Charles, was born in 1916 in Lake County, IL.

Your Charles would not be my great grandfather as I know his date of birth and his emigration from (then) Bavaria (now) Germany. However, it is interesting that your family lived in Lake county, as I am believe one of my great-grandfather's brothers lived in Lake County also. I have a few phone listings for Kick's in Lake county. Do you still have relatives living there?

Hi Mike,
Yes, many Kicks still live in Lake County. Where are you located?

Re: Researching the Kick family from Bridgwater/Middlezoy England
Hi Jill
Eva Kick was the sister of my grandfather, James Melbourne Kick aka as 'Jim' or 'Jimmer'. They also had a brother, Harry Kick, who died in 1918 in the First World War.

Hi. I am Jill's sister Sue. I visited Middlezoy recently and also have gathered some photos from the Kick family FB page. There was a photo of Jim looking very smart 1920-1940's? Did he leave Middlezoy? Do you know anything else about his sister or parents? I believe they farmed Jones Farm in the village. Thanks.

Re: Researching the Kick family from Bridgwater/Middlezoy England
Hi Sue. Can I ask how we are related? To answer your questions, no my granddad Jim never left Middlezoy. He died in 1988 as you probably would have seen on his gravestone in the churchyard at Middlezoy. His parents George and Georgina are also buried in this churchyard, next to his brother, Harry, who died in the First World War. I am not sure where his sister, Eva, is buried. I was just wondering if you had visited Middlezoy and not visited Jones Farm? I live here with my father Bryan Kick whose father was Jim. If anyone can tell you more it would be my father.

Re: Researching the Kick family from Bridgwater/Middlezoy England
Hi.
I am Eva's granddaughter. She has two, Jill my sister previously left a message on here. Eva was married three times, her second husband was Leonard Brake. My father (deceased) is Lionel. Your Dad will, I am sure be able to fill you in regarding the family history.
When I passed through Middlezoy I had not done any family research so although Jones farm was mentioned by a lady from the village I did not then know it's significance. I would love to return and meet you and your Dad.
