My GGGrandfather was Hiram A. Kibby born in Smithport, Pa, 11/27/1843. He married Martha Jane Fraser, b 6/1847, on 6/22/1865 in Knoxville, TN. Their son William Judson Kibby, b. 3/12/1876 in Knoxville, TN was my father's father. William Judson Kibby married Amelia Sutherland in Buffalo, NY 7/22/1897. They had two sons, George (my father) and William. I am searching for any cousins born from the marriage of Hiram Kibby and Martha Fraser. I'm also looking to contact Sharon and Bill Kibby, children of William Kibby, Jr. and Stephanie Kibby.

I believe that my husband, David Fraser Kibby, whose GGrandfather was Hiram Alva Kibby, is one of those cousins that you were or are searching for. One of Hiram's sons was Clarence Fraser Kibby, born on 02-22-1889 in Knoxville, Tenn. Clarence had 2 sons, one of which is my father-in-law, Willard Kibby, born on 08/04/1918, we think in Cleveland, Ohio (he was raised in Cleveland, Ohio). Willard also has two sons: David (my husband) who was born on 09-11-1951 in Kansas City, Missouri and John Kibby, born on 11-08-1946. John has no children but my husband and I have a daughter, Katie.

Dalia, How exciting! Yes, your husband is indeed my cousin. I have been searching for long lost family members for the past two years when I first got into genealogy searching. Your husband's middle name is probably from Martha Jane Fraser, Hiram Kibby's wife. Clarence was my grandfather William Judson Kibby's brother. I met Clarence when I was very little but don't really remember much. I seem to recall the name Willard also. My father was George Sutherland Kibby, son of William Judson Kibby whose father was Hiram Alva Kibby. I never had any idea I had so many relatives from the Knoxville area until I got into this. I was born in Cleveland but have lived in Florida for the past 26 years. I have found much more information than you saw on the internet that I haven't had a chance to upload yet. If you would give me your direct email address, I will be happy to give you my phone number so we could chat in person. I had sent for and just received information on Hiram Alva Kibby from the National Archives regarding his service in the Civil War that I would gladly share with you as well as some pictures I found among my father's things that must have been taken in Knoxville in the late 1800s. Also, I found out there is a book about all the Kibby ancestry and bought a copy. Thank you so much for your response. Hope to hear from you soon. Gail Kibby White

What fun! I'm delighted to have more family! I've only gotten into genealogy since this past spring when a teacher at my daughter's school asked about my last name. He has purchased a home in the Cincinnati, Ohio area still called the "Kibbee House". He wondered if there was any connection. At the time, I replied that my father-in-law is from Ohio...he gave me some info regarding the lineage of the Kibbees that owned the Ohio house. I still have it but have been unable to establish a link between those Kibbees-Kibbys and us. My husband didn't know his great grandfather's name so, intrigued, I wrote to the Social Security Administration to get a copy of the original application made by Clarence to get a SSA number (it had his parents' names). I received that copy 2 days ago. That's how I knew to respond to your inquiry. It's terrific, I have to say. You have really gotten serious about this research. I haven't been in it long but am amazed at the number of Kibbys out there. Is your dad still alive? Do you have siblings? I know that my father-in-law has one brother that Dave says lives or lived in Georgia. Dave says that his uncle's name is Jack (nickname for John?). ALso, he thinks his uncle has 3 children but doesn't know more than that. I welcome any info on the family as I think it would be terrific for us all.

Where do you live in FLorida? We live in Cooper City, Florida. Could we be neighbors as well?? Dave has been in Florida for almost 19 years. My phone number is

I have their daughter, Lula, on my tree. Her husband, John Mortimer Kirby, was first cousin to my great-grandmother.

Thank you very much for your message. Hiram Kibby was my greatgrandfather. His son William Judson Kibby was my grandfather and his son, George Sutherland Kibby was my father. I'm deadended at Hiram Kibby but do have a lot of information about Hiram's brothers. Have connected with sixth cousins, one in Pa and one in Ga.

I would love to stay in touch. My email address is gailfl@mindspring.com

My great-great grandfather, John Kirby, privately published a very comprehensive history of his family from around 1820 up to World War I. I mention this here as it contains photos of Hiram Kibby's daughter Lula Kibby Kirby, along with Hiram's son-in-law (John M. Kirby) and two grandsons (John Edward and George Hall Kirby). I do not own a scanner, but would be happy to mail out photocopies of the two pages of text and photos regarding these descendants of Hiram and Martha Jane upon request.
