The Kibblewhite/Pound(s) conundrum

Hi

Is there anyone here that could unravel how, why & when the Kibblewhites became Pound(s) or vice versa? Is there any way to tell if someone that was born Pound married as a Kibblewhite etc.? I ask because I have such a case.

I know that Catharine Kibblewhite married Joseph Wooldridge in 1761 in Hungerford, but cannot find a corresponding birth for her. I CAN find a Catharine POUND b 1728 Hungerford though and wondered if I could prove/disprove that these are the same person.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Hi
I'am a Kibblewhite-Pounds and I as far as I understand it was from a village in Berkshire possible just near Reading.
In the graveyard you can actual see the two familys then there is a grave stone that says Kibblewhite-Pounds. This is the story I was told as a child.

I'm try locate any kind of coat of arms if anyone knows where and how to find one?

Hello,

i have stummbled upon this old thread after many hours down a rabbit hole trying to find out the same thing.

My family tree in Australia traces back to Pound, then to Pounds, and then then the trail goes dead with a 'John Kibblewhite POUNDS' born 1645 in East Garston, Berkshire, England.

this is the first time we see 'kibblewhite' appear in our ancestry tree.

my research leads to to believe there is some connection going on with the kibblewhite/pounds in this county, at that time....but i am not sure why people in this time, farmers, most likely, would take an alias? i cant find any info on the connection between them.

i am desperate to delve back further than 1645...but i am unsure as the trail goes cold.

i am going to visit this part of the world soon, to see the records and ask around the town myself. who knows what i'll find.
