Moses Kibbe b. 1747 Hartford, Connecticut

Surnames: Kibbe, Kibbey, Butler
Hi,
I'm trying to verify information about Moses Kibbe b. 1747, who may be my 6th great grandfather.
I've found information that a Moses Kibbe served in the American Revolutionary War, but I still haven't been able to connect all the dots.

"Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the War of the revolution, 17 Vols.

Volume 9
page 162

Kibbe, Moses.Private, Capt. Daniel Sacket's co., Col. Woodbridge's regt.; enlisted Aug. 20, 1777; discharged Oct. 27, 1777; service, 2 mos. 7 days, in Northern department."
I have that he married Ruth Butler in 1772 in Connecticut. He died in 1784 in Massachusetts.
His possible son was Moses Kibbey (the name now seems to be spelled with a "y" on the end) b.2/14/1776. Ruth must have died soon after the birth, as her death is listed as being 5/4/1776.

Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.

In reply to your query regarding Moses Kibbe, this is what I have found in the Kibbe Genealogical Notes by Doreen Potter Hanna:

Page 59-60:

"MOSES KIBBE6 (Jacob5, Jacob4, Edward3, Elisha2, Edward1), son of Jacob5 and Abigail (Warner) Kibbe, was born April 20, 1747, in Somers, Connecticut. He married Ruth Btuler, and she was his widow when he died circa July 14, 1783, in Monson, Massachusetts. Testimony of his widow given in February 1785, indicates her husband had died nineteen months earlier, and implies his death resulted from his military service in the Revolution. Further testimony says the youngest child died six weeks after the father. The death of this child, Love, has been recorded as 1789, which date is therefore inaccurate. At the same time the death of a Moses Kibbe was recorded as 1789. This has led to the belief that it was the son, Moses7, who died. It is my belief that both deaths, the father and child's, were recorded in 1789 although they had died in 1783. There is every reason to believe that the son, Moses7, is the same as the Moses Kibbe who appears in Kentucky.

Children of Moses Kibbe6 and Ruth (Butler) Kibbe:
1. Rosanah, 1772
2. Moses, 1774-1832, m. Sarah Everman
3. Jacob, 1775
4. Ephraim, 1777, perhaps married Lydia ___?
5. Clarinda or Clarissa, 1779-1838, m. 1796, Ezra Blodgett6
6. Christable, 1780-1855, m. 1800, Samuel Averill, Jr.
7. Love, 1783-1783

Hope this helps.
