NILES – Jeanette K. Saker, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Autumn Hills Nursing Home.
She was born July 20, 1923, in Youngstown, Ohio, (Mahoning County) the daughter of James and Rosemary Khoury.
Jeanette was a graduate of Youngstown South High School.
She retired in 1984 from the Trumbull County Clerk of Courts as the Deputy Clerk after 15 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church in Warren and a member of the Trumbull County Bar Auxiliary.
Jeanette was a past president of the Trumbull County Bar Auxiliary, and for several years was general manager of the Western Reserve Democrat, which is the forerunner of the Trumbull County Legal News.
In addition, she was a founding member of the John F. Kennedy High School Eagles’ Moms and was a Precinct Judge for the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
She was also an avid golfer.
She is survived by her children, Atty. James T. (Ellen) Saker of Howland, Ohio, Atty. Jean (Lee) York of Cape Coral, Fla., and John K. Saker of Youngstown, OH; six grandchildren, Shelby (Michael) Stephenson, Melissa (Walter) Mickey, Jessica, Joseph and Jeffrey Saker, Clem Hernon; a brother-in-law, Atty. Ted (Pat) Saker of Mason; a niece, Regina Thomas; and a nephew, Michael Thomas of Youngstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph M. Saker Jr., whom she married July 22, 1948, and who passed away May 26, 1990; two sons, Jeffrey P. and Joseph M. Saker III; and one sister, Virginia Thomas.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church, 301 High St. NE, Warren, 44481. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow that on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, with the Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Jeanette’s name to St. Mary’s Restoration Fund, 232 Seneca St. NE, Warren, OH 44481.
