My Grandfather is Charles Keziah.
He had a brother named John Keziah.
He,John, however, was not born in 1803. I ll ask my Grandma who their father was and get back in touch.
My Grandfather moved to South Carolina from North Carolina.
His parents died young, therefore he lived with a family in NC until he was older.

Thanks, Melissa. ANY Keziah information would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any information on John Keziah who was in Humphrey County, TN, in 1830? I believe he may have some connection to my Palmer and/or Cargill families. Thank You. Shirley

I'm a direct descendent of John & Hester as well via their son Thomas.!! I am struggling to try and find any information on John. I've found that he was born in SC but have not found any additional records to date. Please let me know if you find anything. Thanks!

I am trying to determine if the Tuscarora Indian story is true about Chief Cashie/Cashia in Bertie County, NC as the basis of the Keziah lineage. Below is my information. There are at least 4 John Keziahs during this time. I'm not sure which one is my direct relative.
Ken Howey (me) 1952- Eva Penegar Howey (mother) 1927- Minnie Keziah Penegar (grandmother) 1904- Benjamin Franklin Keziah (great grandfather) 1859- William Thomas Keziah (2great grandfather) 1837- William Keziah (3-great grandfather) 1799- John Keziah (4-great grandfather) 1769- Dunning Casiah (5-great grandfather) 1729- or 1742- Cashie/Cashia (6-great grandfather) 1690-
I have been able to document all of the above except Cashie/Cashia on census, marriage, military, tax records, etc. These records are from Mecklenburg County, NC; Union County, NC (formed in 1843 from Anson and Mecklenburg Counties); and Lancaster and Chesterfield, SC Counties. NOTE: There were many John Casiahs that appear in our family history. Cashie/Cashia had a son John (around 1740-1750). That son (John) also had a son, John, Jr. Both Dunning and Sandifer had sons named John. It was difficult to validate whether our lineage comes through Dunning’s son John or if it were through Cashie/Cashia’s son John’s son John, Jr. since both resided in Mecklenburg County at one time. The only data I can find regarding Cashie/Cashia being an Indian Chief is through Public Ancestry.com Member Trees, although various spellings of the Keziah name do appear on official documents in Bertie County. If this is true, it may be impossible to find written documentation on Chief Cashie/Cashia since reservation Indians were not included on tax lists, were not enumerated, and did not own property individually they rarely show up on Colonial-era documents other than treaties.
